OnTray - Don't Leave Home Without It

Trips to the grocery store with our almost two year old son usually go something like this:

Me: "Okay, here's our list. I'll get the apples, you get the milk. Hurry, he's going to jump out of the cart!"

The Toddler: "Eh! Eh!" (Baby speak for "Let me out of this cart already!")

Hubby: Hey, these look interesting...

Me: No stopping! Look, he's climbing out, JUST KEEP MOVING!

The Toddler: (Insert uncontrollable screams)

And that's if we can get him to go in the shopping cart to begin with. The carts with the cool cars attached aren't much better either. Within seconds, he's out grabbing things off the shelves and racing down the aisles. Needless to say, grocery shopping is a mad dash with part of the time spent chasing our son around the store, thus resulting in forgetting half the items on our list. Every week I cringe at the thought of taking him grocery shopping. In desperation I went online to see if there was anything out there that could help me conquer this quest. I was very excited when I came across OnTray by 42 Kids, and even more so when I got a chance to test it out.

The OnTray is a simple, yet genius design. It's a plastic container that clips to the bar of the grocery cart, creating a place to hold your child's snacks, your coupons, your shopping list, and other miscellaneous items. It has a convenient sliding lid and comes in four cool colors. Going to the store, I had high hopes for it because I had started to believe that nothing was ever going to keep my son in the cart. Sure enough, as soon as my husband lifted him into the cart he started fussing. I whipped out the OnTray, snapped it on and poured some raisins onto it. And it WORKED. He was fascinated by this new piece of entertainment and even more pleased that it provided nourishment. He lasted the whole shopping trip, including the checkout line where he's usually guaranteed to throw a fit because we're not moving.

Here's the lowdown on the OnTray:

#5 PP, FDA Approved Plastic
Microwave Safe (remove lid first)
Dishwasher Safe (top rack only)
Easy to clean & store
For ages 6 months +
Mom invented
Manufactured in the USA

Honestly, this clever little device has saved my sanity while shopping with my child. For more information check out the website and be sure to watch this cool video review. Happy shopping!

  1. True Blue is my favorite.

I don't have one worse shopping experience, just a string of attempts to manueuver my cart EXACTLY in the middle of the aisle so Mr. Grabby Hands can't pull breakable bottles off the shelves on either side of him and strew them throughout the store. A tray with toys for him would help a great deal. :-)

  9. I love the True Blue.

My worst shopping experience was once when I got up to the register and had no money. I just changed purses and left my checkbook and cards at home. I had them hold it and went back 10 minutes later. Talk about embarrasment!
