For reasons unknown to me, mosquitos and other biting insects are attracted to my blood. Luckily, I don't live in a place where mosquitos are rampant. As a child, however, I spent a few summers in Winnipeg, Canada where they would attack me and bite me until my arms and legs were covered in huge, swollen and painful bites. Just thinking about it makes me itchy! No matter where I am though, I always seem to get a few bites once the weather warms up. Which, for me that means now. Just the other day, I woke up with what I thought was a pimple on my face. Over the course of the day it continued to swell, which is what always happens to me when a bug bites me, and so now I'm thinking that I got bitten. That night, to protect myself I decided to try the Don't Bite Me! Patch.
This patch is a natural alternative to insect repellent (which I hate using because it smells bad). It's clear, discreet and is made up of two ingredients - Vitamin B1 and Aloe. You simply apply the patch to a hairless area such as your upper arm and it is effective for 36 hours. It's also waterproof! I have to say that I was skeptical at first because I didn't understand how a single little patch like that could protect my whole body against pesky insects. I learned however, that the Vitamin B1 is actually absorbed into the bloodstream through the patch. This then creates an odor that we humans can't smell, but the mosquitos can. And they don't like it.
The Don't Bite Me! Patch was easy to apply and I do think it was successful as I woke up the next morning with no bites. It was a little painful to peel off, but only for a few seconds. It's also great because it contains no deet and is therefore safe for children. For more information, visit the Don't Bite Me! Patch website.
