My two year old is slightly obsessed with polar bears. It could have something to do with the fact that we have framed pictures of polar bears displayed proudly on the wall. It could also be the giant stuffed polar bear that he has, which used to belong to me. Either way, he loves them - "polar bear" was one of the first things he learned to say. So even though we had never watched Go, Diego, Go! before, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to check out Diego's Arctic Rescue on DVD.
The adventure stars Diego, along with his pals Dora, Baby Jaguar, Alicia and other animal pals as they attempt to save the baby polar bears from the melting ice. My son is absolutely enchanted with these bears. I've never seen him sit so still and so long for anything. The DVD also contains two bonus episodes which he loved. I especially enjoyed learning about puffins and okapis! I thought the songs were cute and entertaining and I liked the fact that also introduces several Spanish words.
A couple of weeks ago, we all got sick, but thanks to Diego the situation was made much easier. While my husband and I were laying down too weak to move, our son (who was also sick) found comfort in watching Diego. I probably shouldn't admit this, but he watched it all day long and seemed perfectly content to do so. My husband and I got the rest we needed, and were able to take care of our son much better than we would have otherwise - so thanks, Diego. This one's definitely a keeper!
