Holiday Gift Idea - TIME for Kids

Here's some trivia about me: 1) I'm a Canadian living in the United States. 2) I'm fascinated by US presidents, past and present. Tomorrow, a new book from TIME for Kids will be available in stores. President Obama: A Day in the Life of America's Leader is an in-depth look at how our current President spends his time. When I first heard about this book it was especially appealing to me because I prefer to read children's books over adult books AND it was all about the President!

This attractive book is full of glossy, high quality photographs and plenty of fascinating facts. I loved being able to go behind the scenes and get an intimate look at the busiest man on Earth. The book is set up in clear sections, beginning with the process of electing a president, an overview of the White House itself and its many rooms, the roles each member of the staff play and so forth. It's easy to read, easy to understand and completely satisfying! I loved reading about President Obama's typical day and enjoyed learning more about his family. The descriptions of Air Force One, Cadillac One and the US Secret Service were intriguing. The book also includes a fun little Presidential IQ quiz at the end to make sure you were paying attention!

I didn't pay much attention to the most recent election, but having read this book I am definitely interested in learning more about the President's policies. This book reminded me that the President is a normal person with a very big job and therefore made me want to learn more about him. This would be a wonderful holiday gift for kids wanting to learn more about the presidency. It's a fun read and one that you'll want to experience more than once!
