Countdown to Christmas with HearthSong

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is that of the advent calendar. Growing up, I looked forward to December 1st, when I could open the first door of my calendar and delight in whatever surprise lay on the other side. Some of my advent calendars revealed chocolates, others pretty pictures, and some even had small toys. This was always so much fun for me and a great way to anticipate the upcoming holiday. One year I even had three advent calendars, which meant three times as much fun!

I have noticed, however, that it's somewhat difficult to find a good variety of advent calendars in stores. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places but I do know of one such place online and that's at HearthSong. HearthSong has a myriad of quality toys in just about every category for children of all ages. Their selection of advent calendars is equally impressive. Here, you can find chocolate calendars, nativity calendars, a Dear Santa sticker calendar, a calendar with biblical verses and many more. I think what impressed me the most was that every single calendar is gorgeous - see for yourself here!

I received the Evergreen Elves Countdown Calendar to review. This oversized calendar is absolutely stunning - the picture doesn't do it justice. The breathtaking winter scene is hand painted by children's illustrator Airlie Anderson, and is full of charming little details. The cute little forest creatures and magical elves immediately make me want to smile. You can reuse it year after year as well, which is probably the best part of all.

WANT TO WIN? One winner will receive an Evergreen Elves advent calendar from Hearthsong. To enter, leave a comment on this post prior to Monday, November 30th and tell me your favorite holiday tradition. Please include your email address with your comment. Winner must provide a US mailing address.

  1. One of our favorite tradition is opening a present on Christmas eve. The kids would get PJs to wear that night. It's helps them get excited for the next morning.

  2. My favorite tradition is going out to chop down our tree. We get all bundled up and listen to Christmas music. We always underestimate how big the tree actually is and when we get it home, we just laugh as it takes up a huge area of our living room. It's so much fun.

  3. Actually, advent calendars were always a favorite of mine. And this next one is a little strange, but I loved that my "Santa" always left clementines and nuts in my stocking along with the toys.

  9. Someone else has the same tradition, what a coincidence! We always got to open 1 gift on Christmas eve and it was always flannel pajamas for us to sleep in. Heh. These days I live with my in-laws and they are the people who stay up late opening all the presents on Christmas Eve, a bit odd to me.
