San Diego Saturday

Welcome to San Diego Saturday! Updated as needed, this column is where I'll provide info about noteworthy events, attractions and fun things to do around town.

Head on over to Old Town today - 2510 Juan St. to be exact, for the grand opening of The Mormon Battalion Historic Site. This is held in conjunction with Mormon Battalion Commemoration at Old Town State Park. The event commemorates the arrival of the Battalion into San Diego and their accomplishments in California. Old Town State Park will be turned into a 1840 encampment, with hands on family activities for all ages including doll making, quilting, rope making, gold panning, outdoor cooking, and more. Authentic songs, stories and music will entertain throughout the day. The Historic Site will feature multi-media and interactive exhibits. Bring your camera and come celebrate! It all starts at 10am and is a FREE event.
