San Diego Saturday

Welcome to San Diego Saturday! Updated as needed, this column is where I'll provide info about noteworthy events, attractions and fun things to do around town.

For me, a great way to pass the time is by meandering around a giant bookstore and thumbing my paws through hundreds of books. Hubby and I were out driving in Kearny Mesa one day when we saw a sign for something called BOOKOFF As it had "Book" in the title, we decided to check it out.

WOW. The selection is enormous! And clean! You can sell your own books here (don't expect to make much more than $1 per book though), and everything here is used but in great condition. Most things cost between $5-$7 dollars with bigger items like DVD box sets being over $10. There's a huge section of Manga if you're into that, DVD's, CD's, video games, and of course, books. Lots and lots of books. The kid's section is impressive which is great for my son. They also have awesome Japanese toys - you know the ones that you have no idea what they are, but they look cute so you want them? Yeah, I have to hold myself back every time. If you're looking to buy some cheap books or movies (and who isn't?), definitely check this place out.

BOOKOFF is located at 4240 Kearny Mesa Rd Ste 128 (between Armour St & Mercury St)

  1. You know, I've seen this store so many times, but have never gone in. I think I might have to check it out :)
