Our Stay at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay

One of the many things that Hubby and I share in common is our love of hotels. We have both worked in the industry and agree that a nice hotel will have the "hotel smell" in the sheets. Lying in bed watching the television makes us especially happy since we don't get any TV channels at home. I also love how whenever I get out of the shower at a hotel, I seem to dry off almost instantaneously. Has anyone else ever noticed that?

Last Friday was our anniversary weekend, so we decided to celebrate by spending the night at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay. We made it a family getaway and brought the two kids because everything is more exciting (and therefore more fun) with them in tow. After a quick and easy check in, our car was swiftly valeted and our bags promptly brought to our room. I was pleased to see that the crib I had requested beforehand was already placed in the room.

Our room had a fantastic view of the bay, overlooking the fabulous pool area. The three swimming pools were WARM and two of them had waterslides. I worried that Bean might not get in the water because in the past he has refused. This time however, he couldn't get enough of the pool and the waterslides and I had to force him to get out when it was time for dinner! He then proceeded to talk about the swimming pool all night long.

For dinner we opted for Red Marlin restaurant, the most upscale of our dining choices. We enjoyed fresh seafood in a comfortable setting with a beautiful view of the marina. Afterwards, we were treated to a S'mores kit left in our room and so we sought out a fire pit and started roasting. *The following video captures me in all my nerdy glory. Is that honestly how I am in real life?! It's a cool shot of the fire pit though, which is why I'm showing it to you.

We spent the rest of the evening watching the TV and getting some much needed rest. The kids slept suprisingly well! We finished our stay with a breakfast from Einstein Bagel, which is conveniently located right on the property. This is one of Bean's favorite places to eat, so it worked in our favor. The grounds by the way, are gorgeous and we saw many families out for a morning stroll with their children. Before we left, we got a few more moments of relaxation time in the room.

Every member of the staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I'll be recommending this hotel to all of my out of town friends and family members!

  1. What a neat hotel! Just for the fact the have fire pits with S'mores kits is awesome! I stayed one night at a Hyatt Regency with my husband for a conference he had for work, but didn't stay long enough to see what they had to offer. If we ever have the chance to go back, I'll definitely have to check it all out! :-)

    Happy Anniversary! :-)
