Sklonklish

In addition to myriad and scintillating, I recently added sklonklish to my list of favorite words. I first heard it while watching The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, a 1947 movie starring Cary Grant and Shirley Temple. I guess "sklonklish" is a made-up word, meaning you feel crummy or otherwise not very good. This is how I feel most mornings, and now that I'm pregnant it's especially so. But, I like saying "I feel sklonklish." It's got a nice ring to it.

Anyway, today I was going through some things and I came across a record of sorts of my son's newborn "sleep" habits. The first entry is dated when he was three weeks old and looks like this:

6:42pm Eat
7:05pm Sleep
7:48pm Eat
8:20pm Sleep
8:30pm Woke up
8:45pm Sleep
9:05pm Woke up
9:45pm Sleep
10:05pm Eat
10:40pm Sleep

2:15am Eat
3:00am Sleep
5:50am Eat
6:24am Sleep
7:09am Woke up

And so on... The record ends after two days and at the bottom for some reason, I scribbled my sister's phone number down. A cry for help, perhaps? Now don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the upcoming baby but if this is any indication of what's in store, I'm going to be feeling sklonklish for a while.

  1. ha ha! If I record baby Benji's habits for the first 2 weeks it would have been EAT EAT EAT EAT sleep and then EAT EAT EAT EAT!

  2. Oh man, I remember those days. They are killer! Makes my stomach drop just thinking about it. I am sure you will be a great momma of 2. Just remember it gets better, right?

  3. That's a good word. :)

Thankfully Sophia has been a much easier baby than Levi was!! Hope it's the same for you.

  4. You could also be feeling "sklonklish" because of all the "booragly" weather we've been having. I recommend a bubble bath.
