Tempt Their Palate with Petite Palate

My 18 month old is a somewhat picky eater. He gets extremely fussy when something new is presented to him, and refuses to eat. Once he calms down though, he's usually open to eating a variety of foods (probably because he's extra hungry by this point.) Since baby food seems to be the one thing that he'll eat without a fuss, I decided to give Petite Palate organic baby and toddler food a try.

Petite Palate is in a word, gourmet. Started by two moms, these superior tasting meals are made with fresh ingredients and packed with wholesome nutrients. They are flash frozen as opposed to jarred, so that the food's own nutritional content is maintained while sustaining the shelf life. It's also packaged in adorable eco-friendly paper cups. I love their philosophy:

We believe in the French tradition of small meals with big flavor. This leads to a positive relationship with food (as opposed to large portions of bland foods typically served). If presented as early as possible, children will grow up with better eating habits, reducing the incidence of child obesity and a number of health problems.

I figured this would be a great way to introduce my son to a few exotic flavors. The Apple Pear Blend, for example is made with a touch of cinnamon and vanilla. Banana Peach Blend includes a hint of ginger. While he loved these two flavors, he was less enthusiastic about the Spinach Potato Puree and the Puree of Garnet Yams (I thought they tasted pretty good though.) At least he gave them all a try. See the complete list of flavors here.

You can purchase the complete line from Amazon or view a list of retailers here. Be sure to check out the website for more information and to watch their highly entertaining Ecole de Cuisine videos!
