It's raining in San Diego right now - can you believe it? In fact, it's supposed to rain all week long. Rainy days make me want to curl up with a blanket, a cup of hot cocoa and a good movie. And thankfully, I have all three of those things. I've got my soft blankie that my Nana crocheted for me, my Stephen's hot cocoa and a movie that the whole family loves. The movie of choice this week is Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, which was recently released on Blu-Ray, DVD and PSP.
I didn't watch this movie in theaters, because frankly, it looked a little crazy. And it is! After watching it however, I realized that the chaos is what makes the movie. After all, the book that it's based on isn't exactly sensible either. Have you read it? I did, and after reading it I wanted to go watch the movie. The movie follows Flint Lockwood, the town inventor, whose latest contraption (a machine that turns water into food) accidently destroys the town square and ends up in the clouds. When food actually starts raining from the sky, he realizes that his machine actually works! People start to get greedy however, and ask for more and more food, which causes the machine to go into overdrive and it's up to Flint to save the world from being covered in super-sized meatballs!
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is silly, fun and also touching. My two year old loved pointing out the different kinds of food falling from the sky and the film has a certain charm that's endearing. I found the visual effects to be creative and the voice acting impressive. You can check out the first six minutes of the movie here. I promise it'll get you hooked! A great movie for family night!
I love the book, but the movie has it's own spark and anything that encourage imagination is alright with me. It does have a lesson to it and my kids enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good one. I think Levi would love it.
