I've always been hesitant to give my 21 month old son juice because I was concerned with all the sugar that it contains. He's also a constantly thirsty boy, and so I didn't want him to start begging for juice all the time. Luckily, he's perfectly content to drink water. However, lately I've been thinking that sooner or later he's going to find out what juice is and want to partake of it. I was trying to think of a way that I could give him a bit of juice and not have it be totally bad for him.
That's where Welch's AquaJuice comes in. Momselect provided me with a bottle of the apple flavor to try out on my son. Here are the healthy benefits that makes this juice stand out from others:
· No high fructose corn syrup
· No added sugar
· No artificial sweeteners
· Only 80 calories
· One full serving of fruit
· Excellent source of Vitamin C
Welch's AquaJuice is made with equal parts of water and juice. I'm especially stoked about the no high fructose corn syrup. It comes in three yummy flavors - apple, fruit punch and strawberry kiwi. I gave some to my son and at first he looked at it suspiciously, then he tentatively took a sip. Eventually he gulped it all down and licked his lips. He's happy and so am I, since I don't have to feel bad about giving him juice anymore.

I think it's interesting that big companies are now making money on things moms have done for years. I have always mixed 3 parts water to 1 part juice for my babies.
ReplyDeleteI will probably try this Welch's though because it's convenient.

We would love to try this. We already enjoy the Welch's white grape juice. We prefer the white, because if there happens to be an accidental spill, it doesn't seem to stain like the purple grape juice. We've halved juice with water, but not thej 3:l ratio like Double the blessing has.

Christina - xristya@rock.com - I knew a little girl whose four top front teeth rotted out because her mother was constantly putting juice in her baby bottle to quiet her, and this resulted in years of embarrassment for her at school until her new teeth grew in. So AquaJuice seems like the perfect solution, sweet but without the usually negative properties of sweetness!
ReplyDeleteI always avoid any food with high fructose corn syrup - so this sounds like a healthy alternative that I would love to try!

ReplyDeleteI think it's great that a juice company is at least recognizing the needs of not just mothers with young children, but also adults that don't want all the added sugar that is in regular juice.
