Great news: there is a way! GoPicnic ready-to-eat meals are filled with natural ingredients, and require no refrigeration or preparation so both children and adults can simply open and enjoy. They’re great for camp, school and when you don’t feel like cooking! I have to admit that when I read that, I was a bit skeptical. A ready-to-eat meal that requires no refrigeration and is actually healthy? I normally shy away from these "boxed" meals, simply because they usually taste bad, ARE bad, and don't fill me up anyway. The variety of meals listed on the GoPicnic website however, really did look tasty so I decided to give them a try.
From the adult meals we tried the GoPrimo: Croissant & Fruit, and the GoSavory: Turkey Pepperoni & Cheese. From the kid's meals we tried the ExploreMunch: Turkey Stick & Cheese and the GalaxyMunch: Salami & Cheese. Now, I know I said they looked good on the website, but I was not prepared for how delicious they would actually taste! Seriously, we're talking moist, flaky croissants, delicious organic crackers, quality cheese, healthy (but yummy) gummy bears, and other tasty treats! And I'm usually wary about eating non-refrigerated meat like this, but one bite later and I gobbled it all up. My personal favorite was the GoSavory meal. My two year old son could not get enough of his. I think he devoured everything in less than five minutes. The kids meals include fun little games, jokes and puzzles which is a nice touch, and every box contains a helpful utensil and moist towelette. How thoughtful!
These actually came in handy this past weekend while hubby and I were at the San Diego Comic-Con. There's always so much to see there and so we want to be able to eat something quickly. In the past we've always gone to the grocery store and picked up a couple of "quick" meals, but they never filled us up properly. This year, I brought the GoPicnic meals and they filled us up for the whole day. What's more, we felt good after eating them...with no trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, MSG, artificial flavors or artificial colors, who wouldn't? At $2.50-$6.99 per meal, you can't go wrong. I'll definitely be picking up a few of these to have on hand for future outings!
